Synapticure Launches Virtual Myasthenia Gravis Care Program, Expanding Access to Specialized Neuromuscular Care

PR Newswire

Virtual-first, multidisciplinary care model gives adults living with myasthenia gravis access to expert neurologists and care navigation support, initially in five states with plans to expand nationwide.

CHICAGO, Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Synapticure, a leading virtual care company dedicated to improving access and outcomes for patients and caregivers living with neurodegenerative and rare neurological diseases, today announced the launch of a virtual myasthenia gravis (MG) care program, available initially in five states with plans to expand nationwide. The program will provide timely access to specialized care for adults living with MG, a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease that causes fluctuating muscle weakness and can affect a person’s ability to see, speak, swallow, move, and breathe. Synapticure is working with ZS, a global management consulting and technology firm, which supports a UCB initiative focused on disease education, awareness, and access for people living with MG and on addressing the gaps in timely, specialized care for the MG community.

Synapticure

Adults with MG receiving specialty care from Synapticure can keep their existing local care team. UCB and ZS are not involved in developing or administering the Synapticure healthcare services, clinical considerations, or patient care.

With this expansion, Synapticure adds to its comprehensive virtual platform for neurological care in the United States, now extending its reach to serve individuals living with myasthenia gravis. The initial launch of Synapticure’s MG practice is in Texas, New York, California, Illinois, and Florida, with plans to expand to additional states in the coming months and ultimately make the program available nationwide.

“People living with MG often wait years for an accurate diagnosis, and even after diagnosis, many struggle to find a neurologist with deep neuromuscular expertise close to home,” said Sandra Abrevaya, CEO and Co-Founder of Synapticure. “Synapticure was built to bring that expertise directly to patients where they live, paired with the navigation and support families need to manage a complex condition. We are proud to open our doors to the MG community.”

More than 70,000 people in the United States are diagnosed and living with MG.¹ With a rapidly expanding set of treatment options, the need for MG-knowledgeable care, and for help navigating access to that care, has never been greater.

Synapticure’s myasthenia gravis care program will be led by Dr. Supreet Sahai, MD, Neuromuscular Neurologist at Synapticure’s medical group CareND, who brings deep clinical expertise in neuromuscular disease and myasthenia gravis. Dr. Sahai and the clinical team can provide patients with access to specialized evaluations, individualized treatment planning, and comprehensive longitudinal care — all delivered virtually by Synapticure’s independent healthcare providers.

“MG is a highly treatable disease, but only when patients have access to the right expertise and the support to stay on track with their care,” said Dr. Sahai. “With the Synapticure model, we can meet patients where they are, confirm and clarify their diagnosis, build a treatment plan that fits their lives, share information about clinical trials, and be a consistent partner as their needs change over time. I’m thrilled to bring this level of care to the MG community.”

“Having partnered with UCB early on to envision a potential pathway that helps address the challenges MG patients face during their pre-diagnosis journey, it is exciting to see that vision evolve,” said Vijesh Unnikrishnan, Partner at ZS. “ZS’s expansion with Synapticure marks an important step toward helping patients navigate the path to care and connect with high-quality specialists.”

Synapticure’s myasthenia gravis care program can provide patients with:

  • Virtual medical evaluations with independent neurologists with expertise in neuromuscular disease, including myasthenia gravis
  • Coordinated local diagnostic workup where indicated, including antibody testing, electrodiagnostic studies (EMG/NCS), and chest imaging
  • Review of current medications and discussion of evidence-based treatment options
  • Individualized care plans, including guidance on recognizing worsening symptoms and when to seek urgent care
  • Care navigation support to help patients and families address insurance, access, and logistical barriers to treatment
  • Education about clinical trials studying MG and general guidance on how patients may explore participation
  • Coordination with physical, occupational, speech, and respiratory therapists, as well as other members of a patient’s care team as appropriate and with patient consent
  • Behavioral health support and caregiver resources to help families manage the full impact of living with a chronic neurological condition

As with all conditions CareND’s providers treat, the CareND physician can serve as a patient’s primary neurologist, or work in collaboration with other physicians on a patient’s existing care team. The Synapticure model is designed to complement, not replace, any existing specialist relationships a patient may have. Synapticure operates independently and is solely responsible for its clinical services and patient care.
