Mosman French Bistro Drawing 70 Per Cent of Guests Via Chinese Social Platform
SYDNEY, New South Wales, April 22, 2026 — L’Héritage, a French bistro at Chowder Bay Wharf in Mosman, has introduced a Chef’s Table degustation menu at $149 per person as the restaurant reports that approximately 70 per cent of its current guests are arriving through recommendations on Xiaohongshu — the Chinese social platform widely known as RED or Little Red Book — a finding that reflects a broader shift in how the venue is being discovered by international visitors to Sydney.

The degustation format, designed by Head Chef Julien Audibert-Lebon, represents a new dining tier alongside the restaurant’s established classical French bistro menu. The launch positions L’Héritage to accommodate growing demand from visitors who arrive seeking a more structured tasting experience, while the core à la carte offering continues to serve its established local base across Mosman, Cremorne, and Neutral Bay.
“The tasting menu is a way for guests to experience Julien’s range across a single sitting,” said Alena Rayrolles, Co-Owner, L’Héritage. “It follows the same principles as the rest of the menu. Classical technique, seasonal ingredients, and nothing overdone.”
Chef’s Table Degustation Alongside a Classical Bistro Menu
The Chef’s Table degustation moves through multiple courses, opening with lighter preparations before progressing to grilled and shared dishes. Head Chef Audibert-Lebon trained in Paris and leads the kitchen with a focus on traditional French technique applied to Australian seasonal produce. His signature bouillabaisse, prepared from a family recipe, anchors the menu alongside escargot in garlic butter, beef tartare, and Canard à l’Orange — a sweet-savoury duck preparation the restaurant considers its defining plate.
Larger format dishes include a 1.2-kilogram Tomahawk steak, whole New Zealand red snapper, and lobster with herb butter, positioned for group dining and celebrations. Salmon gravlax with Sterlet caviar provides a lighter option suited to long waterfront lunches. A curated wine list covering French and Australian selections accompanies both the degustation and à la carte formats. BYO is available on Wednesday evenings at $15 corkage.
Heritage Venue on Sydney Harbour Within National Park
L’Héritage occupies a heritage-listed former Navy drill hall at Chowder Bay, featuring high ceilings, open interior spaces, and wide windows framing views of Sydney Harbour and Clifton Gardens. The surrounding precinct sits within national park bushland, offering a setting that separates the venue from Sydney’s more accessible central waterfront dining areas.
The restaurant is jointly led by Rayrolles, who was born in Australia and raised in France, and Audibert-Lebon. The service style balances formal French hospitality with an approachable atmosphere suited to couples, families, and group celebrations. A children’s menu is available. Private event spaces include a Private Salon seating 10 to 24 guests and full venue capacity of up to 40 seated or 80 standing for weddings, corporate events, and private functions.
L’Héritage is open Wednesday to Sunday for lunch from 11am to 3.30pm and dinner from 5.30pm to 10pm. The venue is located at 7B Chowder Bay Road, Mosman NSW 2088, with access by bus, rideshare, and water taxi at Chowder Bay Wharf.
